Arleen Wood Fletcher

Arleen Wood Fletcher left the earthly world on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Born July 11, 1935, in Charlottesville, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John Hopkins Wood and Ira Mae Wood.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Gordon "Buddy" Fletcher, in 2020.

Arleen is survived by her son, Jeffrey Fletcher, and his wife Nancy of Faber; daughter, Donna Fletcher-Cox and her husband Robbie of Roanoke; two grandchildren, Ashley F. Peters (Nick) and Jeremy Fletcher (Amanda); two great-grandsons, Easton Peters and Rhett Peters; her sister, Phyllis Pattishall and her niece, Teresa Pattishall Hayes. She also cherished the love and companionship of her beloved furry girl, Ms. Button.

Arleen's life was defined by love, kindness, and faith. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with those she loved. She was a caring and devoted mother who gave generously of herself and always made sure her family and friends knew they were loved. Her warm heart, gentle spirit, and compassion touched so many lives.

Her faith was an important part of her life. She faithfully attended church and found great joy in worshiping her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and singing in the choir. Her beautiful voice was not only a gift, but a reflection of the joy and love she carried in her heart.

A private memorial service is planned for the Spring, with Pastor Greg McCormick of Woodland Baptist Church officiating.
