Cecil Eugene Micklem, 86, of Shipman passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 at his residence.
He was born May 25, 1937 in Nelson County, a son of the late Patrick Micklem and Daisy Martin Micklem.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Willis and Edwin “Ned” Micklem; his sister, Julia Ragland; and his first wife, Nannie Ballowe.
Cecil was a retired employee of Lynchburg Block Company (Boxley) with over 30 years of service and a member of Maple Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church in Buckingham.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Catherine (Kitty) Norvell Micklem; two daughters, Peggy M. Massie (Rick) and Stacy L. Williams; two sons, Vince L. Micklem (Scott) and Kevin E. Micklem (Christina); four grandsons, Harold Campbell, Kevin W. Micklem, Hunter Wrenn, and Wyatt Wrenn; and one great granddaughter, Ellie Campbell.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with Pastor Dwayne Martin officiating with Interment in the family cemetery in Shipman.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023 at the funeral home and suggest that in lieu of flowers donations be made to a charity of your choice.
