Charles Abraham Fleming, 73, of Mansfield, Ohio, beloved husband and well-loved brother heard the call of the master on September 5, 2026, that his heavenly home was ready for him.

Charles was born on October 19, 1952 in Nelson County, VA. He was the son of Gladys A. Fleming and the late Artell Fleming.

Charles accepted Christ at an early age and attended St. Hebron whenever he came home.

Prior to graduation, Charles was a substitute Bus Driver and he also spent his summers working in Hartford, Connecticut picking tobacco along with many other teenagers in the surrounding counties under the direction of Henry L. Sumerall. Charles spent his last summer as Supervisor over the boy's camp.

Charles graduated from Nelson County High School, Lovingston, VA. After graduation, he attended Berea College, Berea, Kentucky where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. While at Berea College he also worked as Office Manager. After graduating from Berea, Charles moved to Indiana and began working for Montgomery Ward as Store Manager and then transferred to Mansfield, Ohio to continue as Manager for Montgomery Ward. It was in Mansfield that he met his "Queen", Ruby, who later became his wife. After leaving Montgomery Ward, he then worked as Loan Originator at First Bank at Richland Mortgage and continued as Loan Originator at Wells Fargo, Mansfield, Ohio.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Ruby Fleming of 30 years and his loving mother, Gladys A. Fleming who has loved him from the cradle. Siblings, Louise V. Avery, Elsie F. Nappier (Carroll) Sharon Thomas, Marita F. Bailey-Brown (Russell), Cheryl M. Fleming, Gladys D. Fleming and brother (Tyrone E. Fleming (Royce). Brothers-in-law, Ben Williams. Jr. (Teresa), Rob Shakespeare, and Pernell Bolden. Charles is also survived by an uncle, aunts, nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews whom he loved dearly.

Charles is predeceased by his father, Artell Fleming, Grandmother, Mary Jane W. Fleming, Brother, George Artell Fleming, Sister, Vivian Odetta Fleming Bolden, and Brother-in-law, Leon Avery, Jr.

When not working full-time, Charles spent his free time working at the YMCA in Mansfield. He enjoyed cooking especially at holidays and enjoyed a good cigar. Charles family was close to his heart. Charles also was one of the founding members of the former group "Starlighters of Wingina" along with James Allen, Warren Allen, Melvin Allen, Alfred Rose and Perry Ross.

Though we love you and always will, God loved you best!

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026 at St. Hebron Baptist Church in Wingina with Rev. James L. Rose officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fleming Family Cemetery in Wingina.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
