Chestine Roosevelt Henderson

Mr. Chestine Roosevelt Henderson also known as Birmingham and Mr. Gibson slipped in eternal rest at 6:40 pm on Monday, May 12, 2025 at the Summit Health and Rehab in Lynchburg, Va.

He was born on June 30, 1945 in Nelson County, VA. He was the son of the late Willis Henderson Sr. and Minnie Bell Randolph Henderson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia E. Henderson; his brothers, Emmitt (Freddie Mae), Willis (Betty) and Earnest Henderson; his sisters, Lottie Mae (Junior) Tucker, Rosa Lee Henderson and Anne B. (John) Bowling; brothers-in-law, Robert, John, Joseph (Annie), Carter and Velton Gardner; nephews, Marshall Henderson, Ronnie Tucker and Charles Bowling and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was educated in the Nelson County School System. Chestine joined Pine Hill at an early age. He was a dedicated employee with Delta Star for 37 years until he retired. He enjoyed cutting grass and socializing with family and friends.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Angelo (Nancy)Henderson; his daughter, Lolita (Carroll) Marshall; grandsons, Marcus (Shomar) Compton and Derrick (Leanthony) Sharpe; brother-in-law, Warren Carter, sisters-in-law, Susan Carter, Dorothy Carter and Alice Gardner; two goddaughters, Maggie Martin and Shonda Irving; special cousin, Jessie Mae Irving and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2025 at Pine Hill Baptist Church in Arrington with Pastor Aaron Wade officiating and Rev. Brenda Brown eulogist.

Interment will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Arrington.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
