Donald Rea Bibb, 89, peacefully joined his heavenly home, early on the morning of June 16, 2026.
Don was born on May 6, 1937, in Charlottesville Va to the late Stewart Macon Bibb and Edith Lois (Harlow) Bibb.
He attended various academic pursuits at Randolph Military Academy, University of Cincinnati, and Mars Hill College in which he majored in sports education, actively pursuing a career in football. He had the privilege of playing with the Bengals. Don proudly served our country during the Korean conflict in the United States Army. He was a retired graphic artist illustrator. He loved supporting the Washington Redskins and the New York Yankees. Don was an avid fisherman and many fond memories of him fishing with his wife, sons and grandchildren will forever remain.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Phyllis; his son, Devin and partner Shannon and her son, Tucker; his son, Eric and wife Deidra; his beloved grandsons, Blake, Alex, Hunter, and Dawson; his granddaughter, Sally as well as numerous nieces and nephews, with special mention Bubba Bibb, and other family and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his sister, June Hood (NC), his brothers, Fred Bibb (Scottsville), and Bryant Bibb (Charlottesville).
The family is grateful to the medical staff of Martha Jefferson Hospital who provided care for Don in his final days. Additionally, the hospice teams thoughtful care was greatly appreciated.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday June 22, 2026 at Bethel Church of the Brethren officiated by Pastor David Christian.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Following, friends and family are invited to the Fellowship Hall for refreshments and light fare. Please bring your favorite covered dish to share.
Family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent online to Hospice of the Piedmont; online to the Alzheimer's Association ; or the Bethel Church of the Brethren, P.O. Box 118, Arrington, Virginia 22922.
