Eddie Estes Thompson

Eddie Estes Thompson, 83, of Silver Spring, Maryland passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at his son’s residence in Monrovia, Maryland.

He was born September 9, 1938 in Nelson County, a son of the late Alex Myers Thompson and Fannie Lee Spencer Thompson.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Louise VanLear Thompson in 2014 and a sister, Doris Rafaly.

Eddie was an Engineer for CSX Railroad with 34 years of service, a member of the Baptist faith, and a 50 year member of East Gate Masonic Lodge #34 AF&AM of Tacoma Park, Maryland.

He is survived by two sons, Estes Myers Thompson of Monrovia, Maryland and Rodney Shane Thompson and his wife, Susan Marie of Coral Spring, Florida; one sister, Rebecca Bergum of Lake Monticello; one granddaughter, Brandy Hoke of York, Pennsylvania; one grandson, Shane Thompson of Coral Spring, Florida; and three great grandkids, Taylor Hoke, Gavin Hoke, and Owen Hoke as well as several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with Pastor John P. Campbell officiating.

Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery in Lovingston with Masonic Rites accorded by Masonic Lodge #92 AF&AM of Lovingston.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
