Hal Ware Stinnett, 87 of Amherst, Virginia, passed away on July 27, 2026, at Fairmont Crossing.
He was born on March 12, 1939, in Amherst, Virginia, the son of Clinton and Gracie Campbell Stinnett.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Ann Morris Stinnett, five brothers and two sisters, Carson Stinnett (Delores), Beverly Stinnett (Pat), Roger Stinnett (Barbara Jean), Calvin Stinnett (Janet), Edith Watts (Clyde) and Judith Davis (Terry).
Hal worked and retired from Buffalo Air Handling and was a life-long member of Clifford Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Michelle Stinnett of Glen Allen and Dana Stinnett (Tim), of Lynchburg, VA; his grandson Clinton; special friends of the family, Hope, Kenzie and Carter Nesmith of Glen Allen, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026 at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston, VA with Reverend Jeffery Campbell and Reverend Dr. Michael Fitzgerald officiating.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Interment will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bethel Church of the Brethren, Fairmont Crossing Garden Fund, Hospice of Virginia and Clifford Baptist Church.
Dana and Michelle would like to thank our friends and family for their prayers and support in the months before and after Dad’s passing, we are so blessed.
We would like to especially thank the staff, CNA’s and nurses at Fairmont for the wonderful care that he received. The residents for welcoming him into the family so he would feel comfortable. A very special thank you to Devin, Erica and Hannah for putting up with his shenanigans and their love.
Hospice of Virgina for their outstanding care and support. Tina, who also took care of Mom, for her faith, kindness and exceptional care.
The days ahead will be difficult, but we know Dad is in heaven with Mom, his siblings, those who went before him and Rocky.
