Irene Fontana Clater, born September 8, 1958, passed away on June 25, 2026, at the age of 67.

Irene grew up in Fairfax and Manassas, Virginia, and later made her home in Winter Springs, Florida, where she lived for over 30 years. A few years ago, she returned to her beloved home state of Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret (Reavis) Fontana and Emanuele Fontana, and her brother, Gary Fontana.

Irene will be remembered for the deep love she had for her family, friends, her beloved dog, Kenta, and her passion for traveling. She found joy in making memories with those she loved, whether at home or on an adventure, and her warmth and laughter will be cherished by all who knew her.

Irene's love and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever. May she rest in peace.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert "Fred" Clater; her daughters, Jillian Anne Haggard and Katherine Diane Clater; her cherished grandchildren, Linley Katherine Malloy, Joseph Thomas Nolan, and Leo Edward Nolan, who lovingly called her Nonna; and her sister, Diane Raycob (Charles).

A funeral service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 475 Oak Ridge Road, Arrington, VA 22922, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. The service will also be livestreamed on the church's website.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, 475 Oak Ridge Road, Arrington, VA 22922.
