James Hubert Adcock, aka “Ducker”, “Trooper”, “007” and “Jim”, 87, of Lovingston, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026 at The Laurels of Charlottesville. He was the devoted husband of Cora Richardson Adcock, for thirty-one years.
Born, March 31, 1938 in Buckingham County, he was the son of the late George Franklin Adcock and Ouida Swan Adcock and was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara A. Farmer and brother, George W. Adcock.
He retired from Virginia State Police after 30 years of devoted service as a Trooper and Special Agent. Prior to his service with the state police James worked for the Virginia Capital Police and dutifully served in the United States Marine Corps. After retiring from the state police, he worked for Central VA Electric Cooperative.
He was a member of the Fleetwood Harmony Masonic Lodge, Virginia State Police Association, Virginia State Police Alumni Association, and Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by his children, Sharon Adcock (Roxanne) of Tye River, Carol Webb (James) of Mechanicsville, and George “Bernie” Adcock (Margaret) of Timnath, CO. He is also survived by sisters, Gladys Ann McFadden of Gladstone and Roma Peters of Madison Heights and brother, Mike Adcock of Madison Heights.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, Brett, Ben, Ryan, and Erin Adcock.
James enjoyed restoring vintage Ford Mustangs, going to Myrtle Beach as well as attending state police association and alumni functions.
The family wishes to express their sincere love and appreciation for close family friends, Ben Toms and GP Tyree as well as the staff at The Laurels of Charlottesville, specifically, Dr. David Eki.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church with Sgt. CJ Aiken, John Campbell and Tyler Lucas officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
