James Franklin Napier

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of James Franklin Napier, also known as “PaPa Frank” or “Big Foot” on Wednesday January 17, 2024 at his home. Born on April 27, 1933 to the late Sir Cashus Napier and Lillie Puckett Napier.

Frank was the most loving husband, devoted father, papa, and a cherished friend there was. He lived a life filled with joy and adventures. This includes multiple trips to the Galax Old Fiddlers Convention in Galax, Virgnia.  He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his bluegrass friends  year after year camping and flatfooting.  Some of his favorite times was spending time with family & friends at different gatherings over the course time.

Frank was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. What he loved most was praising the Lord and fellowshipping with others.   

He leaves behind a loving wife of 62 years, Pat. Daughters, Donna Kidd (Allen) & Glenda Walton (Timmy). Four grandchildren, Bryan Ferguson (Misty), Josh Ferguson (Kim), Amy Ellinger and Kim Mattox (Tristan). Seven great-grandchildren, Waverly & McCoy Ferguson, Nathan & Christian Ellinger, Lila & Marley Campbell and Raegan Anne Ferguson. Not to mention, many well loved nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Reid, brothers, Roy, Norman and Massie. A special niece, Cindy Napier Baker.

As we bid farewell to Frank, we celebrate a life well lived and a man who touched the lives of so many. His legacy will live on through the stories and memories shared by his family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston, Virginia followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 PM.

Please join the family in the Church Fellowship Hall after the services for food and reminisce his remarkable life and bid farewell to a man whose presence enriched all our lives.
