Listen to Obituary

Jesse Seay Jones Jr., a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, son, cousin, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 12:31 a.m., at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA, surrounded by his loved ones. He met every challenge with courage, ran his race with unwavering faith and strength, and has now finished the earthly journey the Lord entrusted to him

He was born on March 26, 1953 to the late Jesse Seay Jones Sr. and Carol Lee Jones of Charlottesville VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Jerome Jones and Mark Jones of Charlottesville VA; one sister, Linda Pernell Jones-Howard of Charlottesville VA and his son, Chas Ramon Jones of Charlottesville, VA.

Jesse accepted Jesus Christ very early in his life under the loving guidance and teachings of his parents and was nurtured in the Pentecostal True Holiness Church, under the leadership of Dr. Robert J. Michie II and Bishop Andrew W. Copeland, where his faith was firmly rooted and continued to guide him throughout his life.

For 29 years, Jesse worked at Farmington Country Club in Albemarle County, VA, where he was respected for his dedication, dependability, and strong work ethic. He loved his family deeply and found his greatest joy in spending time with them, whether in everyday moments or special gatherings. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball, bodybuilding, and basketball, and he carried that same love of activity and camaraderie into later life through fishing, movies, video games, and cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles.

Jesse was a man of contrasts in the most beautiful way, with a tough outer shell but a heart that was soft and full of love. To many, he appeared strong, direct, and unshakable, yet those who truly knew him understood how deeply he cared and how fiercely he loved his family and friends.

Jesse’s unique way of showing affection became part of his charm and legacy. When something tasted really good, he would grin and say it was “nasty,” and when you told him you loved him, he might tell you to “get out of his house,” all while feeling full and grateful on the inside. These expressions, wrapped in humor and playfulness, became his special language of love.

He was a true jokester, bringing laughter and light to countless moments. His wit, teasing, and one-of-a-kind phrases are memories that will continue to echo in the hearts of those who knew him best.

He leaves to cherish and be comforted in his memories, his loving and devoted wife and best friend of 46 years, Joanne Denise Jones; fours sons, Daniel Carter (Tammy) of Texas, Jesse Jones III (Tasha) of Charlottesville VA, Paul Jones (Shavon) of Norfolk, VA, Andre Jones Henderson (Tamika) of Waynesboro VA; three daughters, Justina Jones of Waynesboro VA , Antoinette Reid (Hannibal) and Patrice Reeves Carr (Willy) of Charlottesville VA; three brothers, Charles Jones of Ivy Va, Terry Lee Jones (Denise) and Paul “John” Jones (Zakia) of Waynesboro Va; one sister, Lucinda Jones (Joe) of Charlottesville VA; two sister-in laws, Rev. Sharon P Williams (David) of Lousia VA, Jeanne Steppe (Lewis) of Charlottesville VA, 23 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his PTHC church family, and an overwhelming hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

While his passing brings deep sorrow, there is comfort in knowing that Jesse is at peace in the presence of the Lord he accepted and faithfully served from his youth and onward. His life stands as a testimony to God’s grace, and his memory will remain a source of strength, comfort, and inspiration to those who love him.
