Jimmy Wayne Taylor

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jimmy Wayne Taylor of Schuyler, Virginia on Friday March 29th 2024 at the University of Virginia Hospital.

He was born on September 23rd, 1948 to the late Earl Taylor Sr. and Lilah Taylor. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by brothers, Earl Taylor, Gene Taylor and Willie Taylor Sr.; brother-in- law, Jimmy Lawhorne; sister- in- law, June Taylor and nephew, Willie Taylor Jr.

Jimmy was the most loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Family always came first in his life. He loved to attend gatherings with friends and family and spend hours talking and telling stories. Jimmy loved to travel and see new places. He truly enjoyed and looked forward to the yearly summer vacations when the kids were in school. After the kids were grown, He and Debbie would at anytime leave for a ride in the mornings and later end up in another state or somewhere exploring something new for a couple of days. It was always the joke when mom and dad would leave to go somewhere that you would never know where they would end up or when they would be back.

He was a mechanic by trade who could work on and fix anything. He worked for Jaunt for 25 plus years before a series of injuries led him to an early retirement in 2010.

Jimmy leaves behind his loving and caring wife who was also his best friend of 45 years Debbie; He leaves behind his children who he loved more than anything; a son, Robbie Dove (Katie) and two daughters, Lori Taylor (Jose) and Kristy Patrick (Roger); his grandchildren whom he adored Bradley Dove, Jackson Dove, Lilah Patrick and Keelan Patrick (due Oct,2024); a great grandson who he was just getting to know Dustin Dove, and two step-grandchildren, Junior Cochran and Harley Cochran.

He is also survived by sisters, Nancy Wisdom (Glen), Irene Lawhorne, and Linda Taylor Lamb, and a brother, Norman (Buster) Taylor (Kerri); sister- in- law, Bea Taylor and a number of nieces, nephews, cousin and other family members.

The family would like to thank Crystal Tyree for all of her help, care and compassion over the last 3 years as Jimmy’s health severely declined. We would also like to thank the staff of the CCU at UVA for the great and compassionate care that they provided to Jimmy over the last 3 weeks.
