John Carter Parr

John Carter Parr

          John Carter Parr died peacefully April 23, 2024, at UVA Hospital Hospice Care. Born May 22, 1940, he was the son of Christine Carter and Mayo Julian Parr.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Lea Seaman of 61 years, his children Jackie Parr, Christy Masters (Mike), Carter Parr, and Joy McGrath (Dave) and four grandsons Peyton Doyle (Louis), Brandon Doyle (Bri), David John McGrath and Christopher McGrath.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law Joan Parr, his brother-in-law Jim Belcher, many nieces and nephews and all the Seaman family.

          John was predeceased by his sisters Shirley Worsham and Sally Belcher and his brother Jimmy Parr.

          He was a 1957 graduate of Nelson County High School and attended Virginia Tech for 2 years before joining his brother in the Parr Brothers Supply hardware store in Piney River.       

          He served in leadership roles for many organizations in Nelson County while a 35-year employee of Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Company.

          He was a very active and dedicated 60-year member of Bethlehem Methodist Church Roseland.     

          A Celebration of Life service will be held at Bethlehem Methodist Church Roseland on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception following. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Cemetery Roseland in care of Hazel Stratton, 1308 Tan Yard Rd., Roseland, VA  22967.
