Larry Edward "Mutt" Tyler, 82 of Faber entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.Born February 3, 1939 in Charlottesville he was a son of the late Willie Catherine Shifflett.Besides his mother, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Judy M. Tyler and numerous aunts and uncles.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam as a fighter Aircraft mechanic. He was a member of the American Legion Post 74 and Elks Lodge 389 both of Charlottesville. He retired from Centel as a telephone installer with 23 years of service. He loved the UVA Cavaliers and was an avid football fan. He traveled to many bowl games with his Elk buddies.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diana D. Tyler of Faber; a son, Toby S. Tyler of Charlottesville; sister-in-law, Shelby Kitchen and her husband Riley of Faber; sister-in-law, Kathy Brockway and her husband, Kevin of Wilmington, NC.; and a special nephew, Luke Ellis Brockway. He is also survived by a special friend, Cheuy Facundo, of Lake Nelson.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Holly Memorial Gardens in Charlottesville with Pastor Hillary Evans officiating.
Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #74 of Charlottesville.
