Leonard R. "Lenny" Loving

Leonard R. Loving, Sr., affectionately known as “Lenny,” 75, of Shipman, departed this life on July 3, 2025, at his residence. He was the son of the late Massie Loving, Sr. and Mamie Powell Loving. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of forty-nine years, Marilyn Loving; his sisters Caroline Jones, Corine White, and Mary Davis; and his brothers John, Massie Jr., Harry, Bobby, Warren, and Jessie.

 Lenny was the proud president of Loving, Loving, & Loving Contractors, where he led the family business for thirty-four years with integrity and dedication. Devoted to his family - everything he did was for them. He had a deep love for classic cars, enjoyed attending car shows, watching old Westerns, and listening to classic R&B music. His passions reflected his appreciation for tradition, craftsmanship, and joy in the simple pleasures of life. 

Lenny is lovingly remembered by his children: Rolanda Loving Norris, Lenny Jr. (Erin), Lemont, Chadwick, and Krystal (Marissa); his grandchildren: Adrian, Kelsie, Tyler, Jaydn, Michelangelo, Kris, Trey, Lenny III, and Alexia; and his great-grandchildren: Yessennia, Aiden, Jaydn Jr., and Ryleigh. He also leaves behind his sister, Josephine Loving; honorary brothers, Willie Loving and Alfred Loving; sisters-in-law, Brenda Gray and Geraldine Loving; brothers-in-law, James and Robert Gray; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

 A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Loving Family Cemetery in Shipman, with a repast held immediately afterward at Calvary Baptist Church.
