Luther Stanley "Stan" Hardy

Luther Stanley Hardy, 75, of Nellysford passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024 at his residence.

He was born October 1, 1948 in North Carolina a son of the late Elbert Hardy and Inez Short Hardy.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hurst Hardy; a son, Darrick Hardy and his wife, Sherry of West End, NC; a daughter, Marsha Rea and special friend, Jamie Morris of Ruckersville; two step-sons, Troy Garrison of Nellysford and Paul Garrison of Chicago, IL; 9 grandchildren, Keenan, Talan Jennifer, Brent, Brandon, Halei, Sumer, Christopher, and Katelyn; 9 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Debbie Williams and her husband, Gary of Carthage, NC; Vernelle Blue and her husband, Kent of Raleigh, NC, and Wilma Myers and her husband, Dickie of, FL.  He is also survived by his godson, Jason Harvey and his wife, Denise of Afton as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

“Stan” as he was known around Nellysford was an accountant at Wintergreen for over 45 years. After retiring he was able to devote all of his time raising cattle. It was a hobby to start with but became another job. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed rabbit and deer hunting with friends. He loved his family and friends and was always visiting friends that he had made over the years. Stan loved the Lord and the friends he made at the church. He helped with the apple butter making at church and he was great with babies. He was known as the baby whisperer at church. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Rockfish Valley Baptist Church, 3361 Rockfish Valley Highway, Nellysford, Virginia  with Pastor Adam Meredith officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Rockfish Valley Baptist Church 3361 Rockfish Valley Highway, Nellysford, Virginia, St Jude Children’s Hospital or Martha Jefferson Cancer Center in Charlottesville, Va.
