Michael Wayne "Duck" Reese

March 10, 1943 — March 12, 2022

Michael Wayne Reese, also known as Duck by his close family and friends, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2022, surrounded by his beloved wife and sons.

Born March 10, 1943 in Arrington, he was son of the late Alfred Dean Reese and Ava Goolsby Reese.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda J. Reese.

At a young age, Mike met the love of his life, Bonnie Gowen Reese. They met each other at the cold storage in Arrington, VA. They shared 55 wonderful years together.

Mike is survived by his wife, Bonnie Gowen Reese, his three sons, Michael Wayne Reese, Jr., Alan David Reese, and Christopher Neil Reese and his wife Annmarie; six grandchildren, Anastasia and her spouse Dallas, Elayna, Jasmine, Dylan, Ethan, and Liam; brother Lawrence Dean Reese and sister Judith R. Watlington.

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Mike put in 32 hardworking years as a Systems Technician Engineer for Bell Atlantic, C&P Telephone, At&T and Lucent Technologies. Mike was a member of the CWA, Pioneers of American, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 715.

Duck's hobbies included bowling, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was a member of several hunting clubs, including Lake Nelson, Oak Ridge, and Farmville. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren new things and being with them out on his property. You could always find Duck sitting in the garage, piddling around or sitting on the back deck enjoying mother nature. He loved watching the deer feeding in the field. Whenever you asked how he was doing he would always reply, "terribly awful good."

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at the Reese Family Cemetery in Arrington with Rev. John P. Campbell officiating.

The family will receive friends form 6 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel, Lovingston, VA.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Fairmont Crossing Heath & Rehab Center for the wonderful care they have provided.

Duck will be truly missed by the many that loved him.
