Michael Alvin Thomas

Michael Alvin Thomas, 67 formerly of Afton, peacefully passed away at his residence in Amherst on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 with Patricia and Westley Shaver by his side.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Geraldine Bourne and brother Jeffrey Scott Bourne.
He is survived by a daughter and granddaughter, a sister, Linda Thomas Crist of Palmyra, brother Gary Wendell Thomas of Charlottesville, Mark Anthony Bourne of Kent Store, a very special aunt and uncle, Ann and Wayne Gormes of Faber, uncle Hubert Gormes of Richmond, and several nieces and nephews.
Mike also leaves behind a very special family, Pamela Patrick "Mom", and Roger Patrick "Pops", of Afton, Peggy Truslow "Grandma", Patricia and Westley Shaver of Amherst, Harley Raines and Zach DeBilzan and son, Owen of Afton, Damian Raines and son, Anthony, Dylan Raines and Mariana Garcia and son, Colson Raines, and many others.
Mike was a very kind, loving and church going man. He was not only blessed with one family but by the family that took him in with open arms where he spent many years, Patricia and Westley Shaver and also with Roger and Pamela Patrick.
He spent most of his time enjoying nature, going on walks and sitting on the porch jamming to some good ole rock n roll and country music. As most know, Mike was a self taught drummer, which he still played up until he got sick. He truly loved his music and had a band that played in Charlottesville.
Mike was one to keep a conversation going, he loved his family and friends. He also loved hunting, fishing and even got on a boat for the first time at Smith Mountain Lake.
He was deeply loved and will be missed.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Rockfish Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Nellysford with Pastor Jewell -Ann Parton officiating.

You will truly be missed Uncle Mike. I will forever cherish our last phone conversation. Even though life took us in different directions, I thought of you often. Rest in peace
