Oliver "Oli" Forlines

Oliver “Oli” Forlines, 12, went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2026.

Oli was the beloved son of Jonathan Forlines and Gloria Hall and the brother of Elisha Forlines. He was the grandson of Carl and Bridgett Forlines as well as, Russell Waldie. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kim Hall and Antoinette Waldie, his aunt, Taj Jager, and his beloved dog, Friedrich.

Oli leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as countless friends who were blessed to know him. Among his closest friends was his best friend, Charlie Stump.

Oli and his younger brother, Eli were inseparable. They grew up playing together whether it was crafting, building legos, gaming, playing soccer or spending time outside jumping on the trampoline and catching bugs. They often stayed up all night talking through the floor boards with one another. Oli was the greatest big brother to Eli.

Oli was a kind, gentle, creative, caring, and thoughtful young man. He had a tender heart and a genuine love for people. He was a friend to everyone—both people and animals—and he had a special way of making others feel cared for. Oli could often be found bringing a small gift to a friend, teacher, or someone he thought might need a little encouragement.

Oli was a follower of Christ, a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and an active and much-loved part of the church’s youth program. His faith and his church family were an important part of his life.

He was also involved in Nelson County’s 4-H program, Nelson Parks and Recreation soccer program, and participated in other various clubs. He was a regular visitor to the local library, and he could always be found with a book in his hands.

Oli had a wonderfully curious mind and a love for learning and creating. He loved science—especially rocks, gems, and bugs—reading, being outdoors, hiking, anime, gaming, soccer, cooking, 3-D printing, Legos, and crafting. He loved discovering how things worked, and sharing the most random facts which once resulted in having the teacher show the class how butterflies poop. His love of rocks was especially well known, and he enjoyed collecting them wherever he went.

More than anything, Oli will be remembered for his kindness, patience, gentle spirit, his creativity, and the love he showed to those around him. His life touched more people than he could ever have known, and his absence leaves an immeasurable hole in the hearts of his family, friends, church family, teachers, and community.

Funeral Service

A funeral service celebrating Oli’s life will be held Saturday, September 5, at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. A fellowship meal will follow the service.

For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed through Facebook at Calvary Baptist Church Lovingston and on YouTube at CalvaryBaptistExt.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church’s youth program, which, at the family’s request, will hold a special activity for youth throughout the community in honor of Oli.

The family also asks everyone attending the service to bring a rock in honor of Oliver and his love of collecting rocks. These rocks will be used by the family to create a special memorial garden in his memory.

In memory of Oli, the family asks everyone to remember to be kind to one another. We never truly know what someone else may be carrying, and sometimes a simple act of kindness can mean more than we realize.
