Raymond Gene Blizard

Raymond Gene Blizard, 82, was called to heaven this past Sunday, May 18, 2025, at 10:10 am, surrounded by family and the loving staff at YAMA Services in Mechanicsville, VA.

Gene was born August 9, 1942, in Charleston, SC, to Annie Geneva Whitley Blizard VanEmburgh and Thomas Benjamin Blizard Sr.

Gene served proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1959-1967 and later became Senior Electrician at Bear Island Paper Company in Ashland, VA.

Gene was a loving husband to Lillie (Dixie) Blizard for 63 amazing years. Gene, known to all as Pop, is survived by his children, Michael Kevin Blizard (Leah), Deborah Blizard Persilver (Tommy), grandsons Matthew Douglas Blizard (Emily) and Nicholas Cody Page (Ashtyn), and great grandchildren, Codee, Jacob and Camrin, as well as his older brother, Thomas Benjamin Blizard Jr., who he loved dearly.

Gene was an avid NASCAR fan.

A graveside service will be held at Bethel Church of the Brethren in Arrington, VA, on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 2:00 pm. with Rev. Dr. Michael Fitzgerald officiating.

Pop was loved by all whose lives he touched and will be missed dearly. We all love you, Pop, and can't wait till we can be together again.
