Richard Sherman Wallace

Richard Sherman Wallace, 75, of Roseland, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on February 16, 2023.  Dick was predeceased in death by his parents, Theodore McBee Wallace and Dorothy Elizabeth Wallace (née Mulloy), and his brother to David.

He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Chapman (Bill), his wife Janice, and his four children Tiffany (Rick), Clay, Teddy, and Massie (Anna).  In addition, he is survived by 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Dick was born in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania on February 3rd, 1948. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1970, where he received his Masters in Education.  He moved to Nelson County in 1969, where he settled on his beloved farm and pursued a career as a school psychologist with the Nelson County School Board.

Dick had a heart of gold with an extremely kind and tempered approach to life. He was fond of being outdoors and was passionately free in spirit. Dick found much happiness in creative outlets such as dancing, hiking, horseback riding, photography, community engagement, family beach excursions, and playing with his grandchildren. He found peace and serenity living on his farm nestled at the bottom of the Blue Ridge Mountains. He was incredibly witty with the goofiest personality and so much fun to be around. He will be dearly missed and will always be a part of our lives.

A memorial service is planned for the spring and details will be shared at a later date.

Arrangements by Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel, Lovingston, VA (434-263-4097).
