Robert Bruce Chewning, Jr.

Heaven gained another faithful servant May 17, 2023 when Robert Bruce Chewning Jr. passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.

Born September 7, 1928 he was a son of the late Robert Bruce Chewning, Sr. and Bertha Parrish Chewning. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a brother, and beloved Uncle, Eugene Chewning.

Robert was a brilliantly talented woodworking artist, working on many neighbors’ antiquities; for numerous years using the basement of Nonies Restaurant to refinish and upholster their furniture. Devoting most of his life to others, he stayed home and cared for both ailing parents until they passed. Later on in life he was “ adopted “ by the family that he chose and chose him. He always offered a helping hand and an open door. He was a man with a heart of gold. 

A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 2PM at the Davis Cemetery in Shipman with Pastor John P. Campbell officiating. A public viewing will be held at the Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel Saturday starting a 12PM.
