Ruby Leona Ledford

Ruby Leona Ledford, 89, of Afton passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at River Edge Rehabilitation and Nursing in Waynesboro.

She was born July 3, 1936 in Bedford County a daughter of the late Melvin Junior Mays and Nellie Allen Mays.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Deelis Ledford; a son, Cleveland Fitzgerald; one sister, Linda Bozga and two brothers, Edsol Mays and David Mays.

Ruby was a caregiver for over 25 years and a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children, Michael Viar (Carolyn), Sam Martin (Donna), Donna Hite (Albert) and step-son, Roy Ledford (Barbara); two sisters, Dorothy Henderson and Mary Johnson and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with Doug Henderson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Ridgecrest Baptist Church Cemetery in Lovingston.
