Scott E. Hudson

Scott E. Hudson born June 10, 1940 completed his journey on Earth on March 22, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was a son of the late Scott and Sally Hudson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Proffitt, Frances Fitzgerald, Josephine Fitzgerald and Lewis Hudson.

Scott loved being a Nelsonian. He retired from R.E. LEE and Sons after 36 years, co-owned Hudson Crane Rental and was owner of Scott E. Hudson Trucking. His hobby was farming. Scott loved working and remained working until the day his journey was completed. Scott loved small town living, dropping by the Arrington Mini Mart was a daily ritual and making his rounds to see his family. He was nicknamed by his family “The Mayor of Arrington”. He was a man put together and a man that believed in hard work.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ruth Grant Hudson; his children, Debbie Simpson (David), Jeff Hudson (Janet), Tina Giles, Glenn Hudson (Lorrie), Brenda Taylor (Danny), and Gary Hudson (Dee); his sister, Joyce Huff; his grandchildren, Chad Simpson (April), Nathan Simpson (Kelly), Kelly Hudson, Kristi Hudson, Shannon Giles, Kaitlin Giles (Ethan Wood), Michael Hudson (Morgan), Bryan Hudson (Ali), Nicole Harris (Colton), Staci Taylor (Graham Hughes), Dylan Hudson and Parker Hudson; his great-grandchildren, Hank Simpson, Colt Simpson, Owen Simpson, Koda Simpson, Brooklyn Harris and several nieces, nephews and many friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church 8408 Thomas Nelson Highway, Lovingston, Virginia 22949 with Mike Wooten officiating.

Interment will follow in the Jonesboro Cemetery in Roseland.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston.
