Shirley Romaine Lee entered eternal rest peacefully on January 21, 2026, at the age of 69. She was born on June 8, 1956, in Nelson County, Virginia, to the late Laura Lee and Charles Gray. She was lovingly raised in Shipman, Virginia, by Hilton and Lillie Vernell Ross. From her earliest years, Shirley embodied quiet strength, a generous spirit, and a deep devotion to her family and faith—qualities that shaped every chapter of her life.
Shirley dedicated her professional life to serving others with compassion and humility. She worked as a cook at Arlington Hospital in Northern Virginia, where her warmth and kindness touched countless patients, families, and staff. She later continued her calling as a caretaker in nursing homes and residential care facilities throughout Charlottesville and Nelson County, providing comfort, dignity, and support to those in her care. Her work was more than a job—it was a reflection of her heart and her unwavering commitment to service.
She is survived by two sisters, Maria Meredith and Patricia Gray, both of Charlottesville, Virginia. She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Devon Anthony Lee (Maria) of Triangle, Virginia, and her three beloved grandchildren: Marcus Lee of Greenbelt, Maryland; Leah Lee of Charlottesville, Virginia; and Camille Lee of Triangle, Virginia. Shirley’s love for her family was steadfast, and she took great pride in each generation that followed her.
A faithful servant of the Lord, Shirley now rests safely in His loving arms. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her devotion to her church, and the deep love she held for her family and community. Her legacy of kindness, service, and spiritual strength will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
