Tyrone Anthony Washington Sr. of Arrington, Virginia, departed this life on Sunday, September 15,2024, at the age of 86.
Tyrone practiced the faith of Jehovah’s Witnesses and throughout his adult life had a deep personal relationship with Jehovah God. This relationship with Jehovah will one day afford him a resurrection of life as promised in the bible (John 5: 28 & 29).
Equal to his love for God was his unwavering love and devotion to his wife of 64 years Ruby.
Tyrone was employed at the Central Virginia Electric Company in Lovingston, VA for 47 years. During his career with the CO-OP he had many many friends and even more laughs and good times. To many, Tyrone seemed like an introvert, but to those who knew him well, he was talkative with a touch of sarcasm. He was obsessively passionate about maintaining an immaculate yard in both Summer and Fall. He was known for dressing sharp, and watching old TV shows in his spare time.
He will be fondly remembered by his friends and family for his delicious chili and fried chicken.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Luke Sr. & Annie Washington; his brothers, Luke Washington Jr., and Henry Washington and sisters, Mary Wilkerson and Loretta White.
Left to cherish his memory is Ruby Mae Washington of Arrington, his sons: Tyrone A. Washington Jr. (Patty), Gregory D. Washington Sr. (Valerie), David S. Washington (Lori), his daughters: Sheila Washington Bowles (Walter) and Dana S. Washington, 11 grandchildren: Tyrone A. Washington III, Marcus J. Henderson, Gregory D. Washington Jr., Tangie Washington, Savannah Washington, Niarra P. Washington, Seth Washington, Ryan E. Washington-Toliver, Jahnaia Washington, Lucus Washington, and Mialen Washington, 9 great grandchildren: Jayson, Saige, Brielle, Josiah, Ezra, Ayra, Samir, Johan, and Myles, his sisters Shirley Ross, Pearl Murphy, and Betty Spencer (Roy), 2 sister-in-laws: Dolly A Stevenson and Marion Washington along with a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and family Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with the memorial service to begin at 12:00 p.m. at the Nelson County High School Auditorium 6919 Thomas Nelson Hwy Lovington, VA 22949.
