Vicki Barnes Vestal

Listen to Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Vicki Barnes Vestal on July 30, 2026 from a brief battle with cancer.

Vicki was born in Charlottesville, VA on April 29, 1953 a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Vestal and Mary Elizabeth Bryant Vestal.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Frances Vestal Beckman and Natalie Vestal Harvey.

She is survived by a brother, Michael Vestal and his wife, Janet of Arrington; a brother-in-law, Gene D. Harvey, of Staunton; several nieces and a nephew; Christy Vestal Martin (Bill) of Ohio, Paul D. Vestal of California, and Courtney Beckman of South Carolina.

Vicki was a child care provider for many years. During that time, she enjoyed and tended to each child as her own. At Halloween time, even if a child had a costume and mask on, she would mention their name while handing out candy. They couldn’t fool her with their costumes on.

Since growing up in the community of “Green Acres” she was always walking with different individuals throughout the years on Court and Front Street. Mrs. Caroline Tucker, Gail, Kim, and Wendy to name a few.

Everyone in Green Acres knew Vicki and Vicki knew them. Vicki was kind hearted to everyone. In fact, while she was at UVA ICU the front desk volunteer informed her brother that “she was busy” and gave her room number without looking it up which seemed strange, but he explained further that she had a lot of visitors and everyone was asking for her.

The family would like to thank the Nelson United Methodist Church for their kindness and support.

The family would like to thank Debby, Sharon, and Gary Ashley for the love and support given to Vicki and the family during Vicki’s illness and during the last days of her life. She loved them like family.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Woodland Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastors Edwin Clever and John Campbell officiating.
