Virginia Bunch Peverill Camden Case

Virginia “Ginny” Bunch Peverill Camden Case born March 12, 1930, peacefully passed away at home July 15, 2025. She was 95.

Virginia was the daughter of the late Leonard and Oleta Bunch. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 42 years George B. Peverill Jr. (Poppie); her second husband William “Jack” Camden; and her third husband Robert “Bob” Case. She was also preceded in death by her brother Leonard Bunch Jr.

Virginia is survived by her siblings: Shirley Davies of Tampa, Florida, and James (Ester) Bunch of Penhook, Va. She is also survived by her three daughters Karen (Richard) Carter of Midlothian, Pamela (James) Chambers of Montclair, and Nanette (James) Kirt of Amherst.  Virginia was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Jamie (Shannon) Carter, Eric (Cassidy) Franklin, Brian (Laura) Carter, Aaron Franklin, Kendra (Michael) Hart, Wesley (Lindsay) Franklin, Philip (Kari) Chambers, Samantha (Jeff) Saunders, and Allison (Steve) Davis. She also leaves behind 20 great-grandchildren; Logan24, Blake23, Madison19, Wyatt19, Emma18, Hazel17, Kali15, Tyler15, Parker14, Brooke14, Sam14, Ryder13, Channing13, Palmer12, Libby12, Hatcher11, Kyla10, Savannah9, Regan9, and Natalie7. She proudly kept up with and whom she loved dearly.

In her younger years, Virginia lived in Northern Va where she worked as the manager of Tots and Teens, a children’s clothing store in Fairfax. Known as “Ginny” or “Gin” by most, she loved to play bridge and was an avid bowler with a cabinet full of trophies to prove it.

In 1966, she and George moved to Scottsville, pursuing George’s dream of owning a grocery store - The James River Market. Eventually, they relocated to Lovingston, opening the Lovingston IGA across from the theater. Following the 69 flood, they rebuilt and later renamed the store “George’s Supermarket”. Virginia loved her customers, but she especially cared for her employees. Some of the older ones have since passed on, but the ones that are still here talk of good times and fond memories. They still refer to Mrs. Peverill as Mrs. “P”.

After George’s passing in 1988, Virginia embraced travel, splitting her time between Virginia and Florida as a “snowbird”. She bought a home in Sweetwater Florida and traveled back and forth. She married Jack Camden and together they enjoyed golfing, traveling, and playing bridge until his passing in 2000. Time went by and the man across the street Bob Case stepped into her life. She didn’t think she was going to do this again, but she did. They were married. They traveled a lot, played golf, cards, puzzle books, and dominos.

In 2016 Virginia took ill and they had to move to Virginia with her family. Bob was good to her until his passing from COVID in 2021. She spent her later years close to home, enjoying card games and relentless games of dominos. She often spoke of dreams where she was stocking shelves at the store – a memory that stayed with her always. Sorry but we have to mention this: she had a well-known love for a fountain Dr Pepper and extra crispy french fries (which she’d let you know if they were undercooked), and her favorite--Dum Dum lollipops.

We will forever carry her memory in our hearts. She will be greatly missed by all.

Her family wishes to thank all of her doctors, caregivers, and friends for their kindness over the years, with special thanks to Ben for his care and friendship.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday July 23, 2025, at 11:00am at Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM with Pastor Tyler Lucas officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Charlottesville, Va.
