Wilbur Lee (Dick) Beverly

Dick Beverly of Palmyra, Va. passed on to his heavenly home June 18, 2024. He was born April 16, 1941 in Schuyler, Va. to Amos F. and Alice Caul Beverly. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Cupie, Tim and Mike; his sisters, Ruth A. Kirby, Rosa Richmond and Emily Beverly. 

He is survived by his wife, Linda F. Beverly of 59 years; his sisters, Joan Moore (Lanny), Becky Shifflett, Barbara Beverly (Eric) and Pat Batten (Stan); sisters in law, Elizabeth Beverly, Billie Chappell and Janelle Beverly. He had many nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

He worked at Jim Price for 54 years. He served in the U.S. Navy on board the USS Newport News during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was a lifetime member of the VFW Lodge Post #1827. He was a member of the Elk’s Lodge Post #389 for 21 years. He attended Mt. View Baptist Church and Cherry Avenue Christian Church. He was a member of Servants of Christ Baptist Church in Zion’s Crossroads. 

He never met a stranger, never had an enemy and was well liked by all.

Special thanks to his niece Caryn Marshall with Medi-Hospice of Charlottesville and good friend Betsy Lamb who took excellent care of him at the last.

A celebration of life service will be held at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston VA on June 27, 2024. Family time is at 1:00p.m. and service at 2:00p.m. with Pastor Mike Nickle and Lanny Lee Moore, Jr. officiating.

Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens with military rites at the gravesite.
